OTR Registration is now Mandatory.
Apply for Pre-Matric, Post-Matric & Merit Scholarships.

NSP Scholarship OTR Registration 2026

The National Scholarship Portal (NSP) is the “One-Stop Solution” for all government scholarships in India. Whether you are in school (Class 1-10) or college (Class 11, 12, UG, PG), you can apply for various Central and State schemes here. In 2026, the biggest change is the introduction of the One Time Registration (OTR) system.

📢 2026 Critical Update: You cannot apply for a scholarship without an OTR Number. Also, **Aadhaar Face Authentication** via the NSP Mobile App is now required for final verification by the Institute.

What is NSP OTR?

Just like the UPSC or SSC, NSP has launched the **One Time Registration (OTR)**. This creates a permanent profile for the student.

  • Registration: You register once using your Aadhaar/Mobile.
  • Reference Number: You get a unique 14-digit Reference Number.
  • Benefit: You don’t need to fill in your basic details every year. Just login with OTR and apply for renewal or fresh schemes.

Types of Scholarships

NSP hosts hundreds of schemes. The most popular ones are:

Category For Students Examples
Pre-Matric Class 1 to Class 10 Minority Scholarship, Disabilities Scheme.
Post-Matric Class 11 to PhD SC/ST/OBC Scholarships, CSSS.
Merit-Cum-Means Professional/Technical For Engineering, Medical, MBA students.
Higher Education University Level Central Sector Scheme (CSSS), AICTE Pragati.

General Eligibility Criteria

  • Percentage: Usually minimum 50% marks in the previous final exam.
  • Income: Family income must be below the limit (varies by scheme, usually ₹1 Lakh to ₹2.5 Lakhs per year).
  • Aadhaar: Must have a valid Aadhaar linked to a Bank Account (DBT Enabled).

Required Documents (2026)

Keep these scanned documents ready (PDF/JPEG under 200KB):

  1. Aadhaar Card (Student).
  2. Bank Passbook (seeded with Aadhaar).
  3. Income Certificate (Issued by Tehsildar/State Auth).
  4. Caste Certificate (If applying for SC/ST/OBC).
  5. Previous Year Marksheet.
  6. Bonafide Certificate (From current School/College).

How to Apply Online

Step 1: Generate OTR

Download the “NSP OTR App” or visit the portal. Enter Aadhaar -> Verify OTP -> Get OTR Number.

Step 2: Login & Apply

Login using your OTR Number and Password. The system will automatically show schemes you are eligible for based on your profile.

Step 3: Fresh vs Renewal

  • Fresh: If applying for the first time in a new course level (e.g., joining Class 11 or 1st Year College).
  • Renewal: If you received a scholarship last year and are promoting to the next class (e.g., Class 11 to 12). Do not apply Fresh for Renewal cases.

How to Check Payment Status

Once approved, the money is sent via PFMS (Public Financial Management System).

  • Click the “Check Status” button above.
  • Select “Academic Year 2026-27”.
  • Enter your Application ID.
  • Status Meanings:
    • “Application Final Verified by State/Board Nodal Officer”: Good news, waiting for merit list.
    • “Sent to PFMS for Payment”: Money will be credited soon.

Conclusion

The NSP Scholarship 2026 is a vital support system. Ensure your Aadhaar is linked to your Mobile and Bank to avoid rejection. Complete your OTR registration immediately as the portals often slow down near the deadline.
